Its the beginning of the new year so what better time to plan and buy vegetable seeds, fruit and potatoes that I will be sowing and growing in my 3 back garden plots in 2008.

Heres a quick run down of what I will mostly be sowing this year:-

  • Beetroot boltardy,
  • Broccoli tenderstem green,
  • Brussel Sprouts genus f1,
  • Cabbage resolution savoy (winter),
  • Cabbage tundra f1 (winter),
  • Cabbage golden acre (summer),
  • Calabrese ironman f1,
  • Carrot amsterdam forcing 3 (spring/summer),
  • Carrot james scarlet intermediate (summer),
  • Carrot autumn king 2 (autumn/winter),
  • Cucumber green fingers f1 (to be grown in mini greenhouse)
  • Dwarf Beans Ferrari (same variety as last year),
  • Dwarf Beans borlotto,
  • Lettuce balmoral,
  • Mange Tout dwarf sweet green,
  • Parsnip countess f1,
  • Pea Ambassador (powdery mildew resistant as had very bad problems with it last year),
  • Pepper (sweet) Romano mixed (to be grown in mini greenhouse),
  • Potato Lady Christi (to be grown in tubs/buckets),
  • Potato Charlotte (to be grown in tubs/buckets),
  • Potato Picasso (to be grown in tubs/buckets),
  • Radish French Breakfast (same as last year),
  • Runner Beans Red Rum and White Lady (same as last year),
  • Spinach tiraz f1 (same as last year),
  • Spring Onion paris silverskin (same as last year),
  • Squash hawk f1,
  • Strawberries Flamenco (everbearers to be grown in pots),
  • Tomato golden sunrise (outdoor variety),
  • Tomato green zebra (outdoor variety).

All bought from Mr Fothergills again as I was very satisfied with the rates of germination, range of varieties and quick delivery last year.

Phew! lots of growing to contend with this year and as I received two cookery books for Christmas I’m going to learn how to cook and preserve my own produce as well.
