Started off with plastic pop bottles with the tops cut off, using garden soil and cheap seeds from the local B&Q shop! Now I am using recycled rectangular plant pots which I found at the local council tip (cost me a couple of quid for 5! - New would have been about 5 Quid for one!) Using a mix of soil and compost (from my wormery - left over food that my worms have been munching on!) and packets of seeds that I have got from the local Freecycle mailing list! Food tastes so much better when you have grown it yourself! (and so cheaply too!) I’ve been growing things on window ledges for years!
