Its truly autumn now with the leaves falling and temperature dropping. There’s not much left to sow in November but if you want to get a head start on next year there’s a few vegetables to sow or plant that will delight you with their harvest in May to July.
Garlic
Garlic is easy to grow from planting individual cloves. Garlic is an antiseptic and is very good for your health as it has been proved to lower cholesterol and blood pressure. It is also an insect repellent and is often suggested to dispel aphids away from rose bushes by planting or spraying solution beneath them.
Plant: October to November.
Harvest: July next year.
Garlic Varieties:
- Popular – Solent White – good for the British climate.
- Giant – Elephant Garlic – giant mild tasting variety
- Purple – Purple White – earlier variety lifting in June.

- For Serious Garlic Lovers – Try The Garlic Farm’s range of Heritage, Mini, Soft and Hard-Neck Varieties.
