Salsify is very winter hardy, even here at 2500 ft., and multiple sub-zero winter ups and downs.

Kohlrabi is a crop that is hardier than rutabagas (swede turnips) and when fed to our dairy animals they never gave a turnip-y flavor to the milk like cabbages, kale, turnips, etc.

Parsnips are unquestionably the hardiest of all, but when frozen into the ground they're "off limits" They don't taint the milk either.

Kale never survived our winters here, but savoy cabbages did.

Nice blog, and useful.

Thanks for your comment and well spotted. You are right, I've missed winter hardy Broad Beans off the list, mainly because I thought mine weren't going to survive the snow however I'm glad to say they've made a full recovery and can now take the 11th spot on my list as vegetables that can survive the snow.

Surely broad beans deserve a place above winter lettuce and swiss chard?
