5 Weeks Update – Carrot, Beetroot, Cabbage, Chard, Spinach Seedlings
Posted on 16. May, 2010 by Tracey in Veg Plot
Following on from my post in April when I sowed Carrots, beetroot, cabbage, chard, spinach, spring onion, mange tout and radish seeds, my new seedlings have been growing quite fast. To see how long its taken for them to rise above the soil, please view my recent post ‘How many weeks does it take for my seedling to appear?‘ Good news my carrots eventually appeared in 4.5 weeks and my peppers took 4 weeks to appear.
Here’s how they are doing in 5 weeks:-
I’m so glad my spring onions have germinated as they can be a bit hit and miss. My beetroot has stunning red veined leaves and I’m pleased how they are coming along. My cabbages are also doing well and I even managed to capture a spider on my spinach seedlings, see how spiders and other insects can be beneficial to your vegetable garden here.

I lifted the nets on my carrot patch this weekend – and amongst the weeds there were some definite carrots. Looks like I won’t have to worry about thinning them out. The parsnip seedlings looked like giants alongside!
