Are you harvesting more runner beans that is humanly possible to eat and freeze? Are you over-run with tomatoes? Have you made enough tomato sauce to feed a small army and run out of ideas to use your excess?

Then this fab new website, launched today called Lourish is for you! Lourish.com aims to help ease your surplus harvest of vegetables, fruit, eggs, seeds, plants, preserves, jams, chutney and more by swapping them for something that you do really want or if you are feeling particularly generous you can offer your harvests as a giveaway.

Its very quick and easy to register on the website. Then enter your postcode or location to find exchanges in your area or setup your own exchange. For example ‘I want to swap a 5 cabbages for 5 cucumbers in your local area’ or setup a ‘giveaway’ where you can advertise your harvest to giveaway and wait for people to contact you through the site.

Lourish also connects you with other vegetable growers and private smallholders in your local area and further afield, so keep eating fresh and local by checking out what’s on offer nearby and if you have any surplus produce that you’ve grown or produced yourself, why not offer it up to others.

The best part about this community is it’s completely free to join, exchange or giveaway produce, so theres no excuses for throwing away any of your hand grown fruit or vegetables, remember one man/woman’s waste is another man/woman’s treasure!

I think this is a brilliant idea and if you do too, don’t forget to spread the word, as more people = more produce to swap.
