Thank you for giving me official and beneficial reasons to grow these. I have a few in hanging plants, one in a raised bed in a campus garden (www.publichealthgarden.blogspot.com) and plans to gift a few on Mother's Day.

I have been planting nasturtiums for a couple of years now. Only because of the beautiful foilage and flowers! I have a vegetable garden and have had no luck with cabbages or broccoli, because of the white moth.
I can hardly wait to to growing cabbage and broccoli again. We also have a problem with aphids on our apple tree so I will plant some along the fence post where the tree is.
Thank you so much for this info.

Thanks for your article!

I am growing cherry tomatoes and strawberries in hanging baskets, basil, sage, thyme, mint, rosemary, oregano and scallions in pots, and green beans, jalepenos, bell peppers, cubanella peppers, eggplants, chives, and tarragon in window boxes! It is going great so far but this is my first year with window boxes so I'm pretty nervious!

Another useful idea I've discovered is how to handle water from an overflowing water butt. Traditional diverters simply put the water back into the mains drainage and so it gets lost.
A better option is to simply fit a Water Butt Tap with Hozelock Connector at the top of the water butt, an inch or so below the lid. Then connect a hose to the tap and the overflow will run along the hose to anywhere in your garden.
If you connect a seep hose (filled with small holes, it will water a whole length of garden. :-)

The devices only cost £8 and can be found here.

I think I'm going to leave tomatoes out of my garden this year. For the past 5 years I've barely harvested a single tomato. Why?? BLIGHT!!!! I have given so much bloomin attention to the tomatoes and now I think I'm finally sick of them. Even though they are one of my favourite things to eat.

I've tried everything with them - growing indoors, outdoors, pots, grow bags, greenhouse, polytunnel, timed watering, sowing earlier.

I've come to the conclusion that the climate just is not hot enough and certainly not dry enough in Wales for tomatoes. At least not in my back garden!
