Building a Small Fleece Cloche
You will need:- A roll of plastic or metal square mesh,
- Garden twine or string,
- Horticultural fleece (or netting, polythene or environmesh),
- Ground pegs or staples.
Instructions:
- Decide how wide and high you want your tunnel by rolling off some mesh material and arching it to make a tunnel and placing it over your seedlings or plants.
- Cut off a length at your desired measurements.
- Measure and cut some fleece, polythene or enviromesh the same size as the mesh.
- Make some small holes in the edges of the tunnel sides for the string to go through.
- Cut some small pieces of twine or string and tie the fleece / poly / net to the bottom of the mesh frame.
- Arch the mesh and site over your sowings or plants. Push the sides into the ground and using ground staples or pegs secure the mesh to the soil.
- If using fleece or enviromesh covering, watering can taking place without moving the tunnel. If using polythene, for watering you will have to remove the cloche from the ground or make holes at the top of the tunnel.
