Planting Potatoes in Raised Beds

This is a guide to growing your own potatoes in raised vegetable beds or planters.

When do you grow them? Plant chitted or non-chitted potato tubers in trenches (about 1 potato deep) in April – May.

When do I harvest them? It depends on what type of potato you have grown.

  1. Salad Potatoes and Earlies – Harvest 10 – 13 weeks from planting which is usually June to August.
  2. Maincrop Potatoes (early and late) – Harvest 15 – 20 weeks from planting which is usually September to November.
